The official notification for IBPS PO exam 2017 has come on the notice board on 14th August 2017. To add much to the dismay, the online process of registration is now over. The last date to apply for the exam was that on 5th September 2017. The total number of vacancies that are available for the IBPS PO Exam is 3562. The vacancies are soon to be increased as there has been lack of reports from 4 banks currently. After the release of the notification, a major change has been noticed in the Mains exams for the IBPS PO 2017.
Matching the concept of SBI PO 2017, IBPS has also introduced a descriptive paper in their mains exam for one to be selected as a Probationary Officer.
Analysis of IBPS PO EXAM
The preliminary exam for IBPS PO 2017 has started from 7th October 2017. The detailed analysis of the same is provided below.

Vacancy Details of IBPS PO EXAM
Every year, a total of 20 lakh applicants participate in the IBPS Bank PO exam and the numbers grow every year. The released official notification has mentioned and talked widely about the total number of vacancies that have been made available.
The total number of vacancies for the PO post has been accounted to 3562 in total. It is not the fixed vacancy list as four banks are yet to declare and talk about their vacancy list.

Examination Center of IBPS PO EXAM-
The Examination centres of the IBPS PO exams will be allotted soon after the registration process is finished and wrapped up totally.
While filling up the application form, the candidates are given the privilege to choose their exam centre as per their convenience. It might so happen that the desired venue is full, in such cases, IBPS allots the exam centre other than what the candidate has chosen for them.
The Recruitment Process of IBPS PO EXAM-
There are three phases involved in recruiting a PO and the managing officers. They include, Online Preliminary Exam, Online Mains Exams, and an Interview. A candidate has to pass each level to be a part of the next.
IBPS PO Exam Pattern-
As mentioned earlier, the examination will take place in three phases Online Preliminary Exam, Online Mains Exams, and an Interview.
The Preliminary exams will happen in a time frame of one hour and will contain sections which are Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and English.
To get to the Mains, the candidates must equally qualify the prelims with the actual cut-off required for every subject/section.
The few changes in the Mains exams are mentioned below.
- The total number of questions has been dragged down from 200 to 155.
- The Mains exams will contain four sections and the total marks for the paper will be 200 which the students are required to finish in a total of 180 minutes.
- A descriptive paper has been added in the Mains exams just like the SBI PO exams.
- The total time required to finish the multiple choice questions have also been changed and alterations are made for the same.
- There is no specific section that has been allotted to Computer Applications. The computer aptitude and the reasoning sections have been packed together into one. The total marks for this section will be 60 and the total number of questions that will be asked is 45.
The candidate has to clear both i.e. Preliminary as well as Mains to be eligible for the Interview process.
Eligibility Criteria for IBPS PO EXAM-
The candidate appearing for the IBPS PO exam has to be an age of 20 or more.
For the general category, the fees are accounted to be Rs. 600. For the SC/ST, the application form fee is Rs. 100.
